Houston Therapist That Meets You Where You Are: Real Help for Real Life
Most people wait too long before reaching out for help. They tell themselves things will get better on their own. They push through until pushing through stops working. If that sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Millions of people feel exactly the same way. And the ones who eventually find relief? They all started with one step reaching out. We’ve built our practice around one simple belief: getting help should feel safe, straightforward and hopeful not overwhelming. From your very first call, we handle the hard parts so you can focus on what actually matters feeling better.
Houston Therapist serve individuals, couples, teens, children and families across all of Houston and the surrounding communities. Whether you prefer to sit down with a therapist in person or connect from the comfort of your own home through secure online therapy, we make it easy to get started.

Individual Therapy
Sometimes you just need someone in your corner someone who listens without judgment and helps you figure out what’s really going on. Our individual therapy sessions give you a private, confidential space to work through whatever is weighing on you. Whether you’re struggling with anxiety that never seems to shut off depression that makes even small tasks feel impossible, grief that catches you off guard and burnout that’s left you running on empty or something. you’ve never quite been able to put into words this is a space for you.
Our licensed therapist are trained in proven evidence based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We don’t just talk we give you real tools you can actually use.

Couples Therapy & Marriage Counseling
Every relationship goes through rough patches. But when the same arguments keep happening, when trust starts to slip or when two people start to feel more like strangers than partners that’s when talking to someone outside the relationship can make a real difference.
Our Houston couples therapists work with partners at every stage dating, engaged, married or navigating a difficult transition. Using approaches like Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), we help couples rebuild connection, communicate better and work through conflict in a way that actually moves things forward.
We also offer premarital counseling for couples who want to build a strong, honest foundation before they say “I do.”

Child Therapy & Teen Therapy
Kids and teenagers carry more than most adults realize. School pressure, social anxiety, family changes, bullying and identity questions. The emotional weight on young people today is real and it deserves real attention.
Our child therapists and teen therapists create a warm age appropriate environment where young people feel safe enough to open up. We use approaches like play therapy, sand tray therapy and Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT) methods proven to help children and adolescents process emotions and build lasting coping skills.
We also keep parents involved throughout the process, because healing at home matters just as much as healing in the therapy room.

Family Therapy
When things are tense at home, it affects everyone not just the person who seems to be struggling most. Family therapy brings the whole household into the conversation, helping families understand each other better, break old patterns and start building healthier ones.
Whether it’s conflict between parents and kids, communication breakdowns, blended family stress or something no one wants to say out loud. Our family therapists create a space where everyone feels heard.

Trauma Therapy & EMDR
Trauma doesn’t always look the way people expect. It’s not always a single dramatic event. Sometimes it’s years of emotional pain. Sometimes it’s something that happened in childhood that still affects how you feel today. Sometimes it’s the kind of experience that leaves you on edge, disconnected or numb without really knowing why.
Our trauma therapists in Houston understand that. And they know how to help.
We specialize in EMDR therapy one of the most well researched, effective treatments available for trauma and PTSD. We also offer somatic therapy and other trauma informed approaches that work with both the mind and body to help you process what happened and move forward.

Anxiety & Depression Therapy
Anxiety tells you everything is a threat. Depression tells you nothing will ever change. Neither is telling you the truth but when you’re in the middle of it, those feelings can feel absolutely real.
Our Houston Therapists anxiety and depression counselors have helped hundreds of people break out of those cycles. Using CBT, ACT, DBT and mindfulness based approaches. We help you understand where those patterns come from, challenge them and build a life that feels more like yours again.

How Much Does a Therapist in Houston Cost?
We believe you should know exactly what to expect before your first session no surprises and no hidden fees.
What You’ll Typically Pay
Therapy in Houston generally ranges from $75 to $250 per session, depending on the type of session and the therapist’s experience level. Our rates are transparent and straightforward:
- Individual therapy sessions: $125–$175
- Couples counseling sessions: $150–$200
- Child and teen therapy: $125–$175
- Group therapy (where available): $35–$75
Insurance We Accept
We work with most major insurance plans in Texas, including Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), Aetna, United Healthcare and Cigna. For clients with inNnetwork coverage, out of pocket costs often drop to just $20–$70 per session as a simple copay.
If your insurance plan works differently, we can provide a superbill a detailed receipt you submit directly to your insurer for out of network reimbursement. Many of our clients recover between 50–80% of their session costs this way.
We also accept HSA and FSA payments, so you can use your pre tax health savings dollars to cover the cost of therapy.
What If Cost Is a Barrier?
We never want cost to stand between someone and the support they need. A limited number of sliding scale spots are available for clients with financial need. When you reach out just ask we’ll be honest about what’s available and what might work for your situation.
Starting Therapy Is Simpler Than You Think
A lot of people put off getting help because they don’t know where to start. They worry about saying the wrong thing, choosing the wrong therapist or not being “ready” enough. Here’s the truth you don’t need to have it all figured out. You just need to reach out.
Here’s exactly what happens when you contact:
Step 1: Reach Out
Call us, send a text or fill out our simple online form. It takes less than two minutes. We’ll ask a few easy questions about what you’re looking for and how we can help.
Step 2: Get Matched With the Right Therapist
This part matters more than most people realize. A good therapist isn’t just whoever has an open slot. It’s someone whose background, approach and personality are the right fit for you. We take matching seriously and we don’t rush it.
Step 3: Attend Your First Session
Your first appointment is relaxed. Your therapist will get to know a little about your background, what you’ve been going through and what you’re hoping to get out of the process. You don’t need to prepare anything. Just show up.
Step 4: Build a Plan That’s Yours
After your first session, your therapist will work with you to create a flexible, personalized plan built around your actual goals. Nothing rigid. Nothing one size fits all. Just a clear direction forward.
Step 5: Make Progress at Your Own Pace
Most clients start with weekly sessions, then gradually move to every two weeks or once a month as things improve. There’s no pressure and no fixed endpoint. Therapy moves at the pace that’s right for you.
Why Houston Families and Individuals Trust On US
Houston has no shortage of therapists. Here’s what our clients tell us makes the difference:
- We listen before we prescribe. Every therapist takes time to really understand who you are before building any kind of plan. There’s no rush to diagnosis and no checkbox approach.
- We match you carefully. We’ve seen firsthand how much the right fit matters. That’s why we put real thought into connecting you with a therapist who’s genuinely suited to you not just available.
- We’re fully licensed in Texas. Every therapist on our team holds an active license through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors. You’ll always know exactly who you’re working with and what their credentials are.
- We’re flexible. In person sessions, secure video therapy and same week appointments we work around your life not the other way around.
- We’re transparent. No surprise fees. No confusing insurance runaround. We tell you what things cost upfront and help you understand your benefits clearly.
- We care about Houston. This city is diverse, resilient and real and so is our team. We understand the unique pressures and experiences of people living and working here.

Common Questions About Houston Therapy
Do I need a doctor’s referral to see a Houston Therapist?
No. You can contact us directly no referral needed. Just reach out and we’ll take it from there.
Is everything I say in therapy kept private?
Yes. Everything discussed in your sessions is fully confidential under HIPAA and Texas state privacy law. The only exceptions are narrow legal situations like an immediate safety concern and your therapist will explain those clearly before your first session begins.
How long does therapy usually take?
It depends on what you’re working through. Many clients start feeling meaningfully better within 8-12 sessions. Others find ongoing, longer term support more helpful. Your therapist will check in with you regularly and give you honest feedback on your progress.
What’s the difference between a therapist and a psychiatrist?
A therapist provides talk therapy helping you work through thoughts, feelings and behaviors through conversation and evidence based techniques. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor focused primarily on medication management. If medication might be helpful alongside therapy, we can coordinate a referral.
Do you offer online therapy in Houston?
Yes. Our telehealth sessions are conducted through a secure, HIPAA compliant video platform and are just as effective as in person sessions for most concerns. All you need is a phone, tablet, or computer and a private space.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
We work hard to get new clients matched and seen as quickly as possible often within the same week. Reach out today and we’ll let you know what’s currently available.
